Wonderful item August 24, 2010 Delray Jeff This very inexpensive product is an ingenious idea! Accolades to the inventor! Recently I developed a sharp pain in my thigh if I lift my leg over the other knee to put a sock on. This amazing "gadget" allows you to put the sock on without lifting your leg at all...it's wonderful!
Sock Aid a real help July 15, 2010 No time for a rocking chair in retirement (Michigan, USA) We bought it for our 97 year old father who was having trouble getting his socks on because of problems with reaching his feet. It worked well for him. The terry cloth on the outside holds the sock until he pulls it up and his toe hits the end of the sock. Then he can pull the aid out of the sock. He did have to experiment with how far onto the aid to put the sock so that the aid doesn't slip out before the sock is on. If you put the aid too far into the sock, it can be too difficult to get it out of the sock. Used properly it's a handy thing.
helps with putting on my socks July 14, 2010 Manny (USA) Helps me in putting on my socks. When my hips act up it is hard to reach my toes, this helps. Perhaps a better material. The part that is pulled is long, I had to wrap it so I could hang it. A retractable material I think would be better.
Saved my sanity June 25, 2010 Cancer Monkey 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had high dose radiation to my left hip in January of this year, and one of the the side effects can be muscle fibrosis (scarring) and edema (swelling) in the area treated. I am currently undergoing physical therapy to deal with this, and one of the most frustrating and difficult situations this has put me in has been the inability to bend over on my left side. Putting on a sock became increasingly more and more difficult and painful and, quite frankly, is now impossible. There were two days I simply did not go into work, not because of symptoms, but because as a person who lives alone, I could not get my left sock on. (Wearing footwear without socks is not permitted in my workplace.) It was enough to bring tears of frustration each morning.
I reviewed this device, and decided to give it a shot, and it has literally changed my life. I can know put on any sock of my choosing on my affected side in a matter of minutes. The construction and material is very solid, and the straps are long enough. I am 6'3" and can't really reach below my knee right now, and I have no issue whatsoever pulling my sock up. I also have fairly wide feet, and the hard plastic, yet flexible, shell fits my foot with total ease.
I highly recommend this device to anyone who may need the additional assistance of getting their socks on. I would have gladly paid many times its selling price for the degree of independence this product provides.
Stretches your socks out June 24, 2010 BlondieGal (Ca) Bought this for hubby when he had major surgery, to help him get his socks on when I was not home to help him. It is soooo big around, to get your sock around it, would stretch your socks out. Hubby said "heck no!" Gave it to my father. Have no idea if he has used it or not.
